HEATING GRANTS

Back Boiler Replacement Grants

Back boilers were once highly popular due to their ability to be discreetly hidden behind a gas or electric fire in a fireplace.

However, with the exception of a few models produced in the early 2010s, most back boilers are non-condensing and typically operate at less than 65% efficiency. This means that for every £1 spent on gas, at least 35p is wasted as heat lost through the chimney.

Due to updated regulations on minimum efficiency standards, back boilers are no longer available. They can now be replaced with more efficient alternatives, such as a wall-mounted boiler or an Air Source Heat Pump.

Free Gas Boiler Replacement Grants

If your boiler was installed before April 2005, it’s likely an old, non-condensing model.

These boilers typically operate at around 65% efficiency, meaning that for every £1 spent on gas, at least 35p is wasted as heat lost through the chimney.

Through the ECO4 scheme, your outdated boiler can be replaced with a modern A-rated condensing gas boiler, which is approximately 92% efficient and could save you hundreds of pounds annually. Alternatively, your inefficient boiler can be upgraded to an Air Source Heat Pump, often combined with solar panels to further reduce your energy bills.

LPG Boiler Replacement Grants

The UK Government is dedicated to achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.

Through the ECO4 scheme, you can upgrade your LPG boiler to an Air Source Heat Pump and receive solar panels to generate free electricity simultaneously.

If you heat your home using an LPG boiler (fueled by bottles or bulk LPG) and your boiler is 9 years or older, you may qualify for a grant if you or someone in your household receives one of the qualifying benefits or meets the ECO4 Flex scheme criteria.

Oil and Solid Fuel Replacement Grants

The UK Government is committed to achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.

Through the ECO4 scheme, you can upgrade your oil or solid fuel boiler to an Air Source Heat Pump and receive solar panels to generate free electricity at the same time.

If you currently heat your home using oil or solid fuel, you may qualify for a grant if you or someone in your household receives one of the qualifying benefits or meets the ECO4 Flex scheme eligibility criteria.

Will I receive a Gas Boiler or Air Source Heat Pump?

If your home had a mains gas connection that was in use before 1st April 2022, we can install gas central heating for you. This applies if you currently use gas for cooking, have gas room heaters, or use a warm air gas heating system.

If your home does not have a mains gas connection, you will receive an Air Source Heat Pump, which is one of the most efficient heating solutions available.

Green Energy Sense are committed to helping you reduce your energy bills. Working directly with the UK’s leading energy companies; we can offer free insulation, heating grants, heat pumps and solar panels via the ECO4 and ECO4 Flex schemes.
